I'm a commercial truck driver and need both a printer and scanner for everything I do. I've been through several printer/scanner combos over the years and they usually don't stand the beating that anything electronic in the truck suffers. I bought this printer four months ago and have had no issues with it whatsoever, even after nearly 75,000 miles of bouncing in the truck. I print log sheets daily and scan 3-4 times per week. I have also had to print for law enforcement a few times. I printed from inside a scale house for one officer and he had to come out to the truck to see my set-up and decided he was buying one of these printers for his house.
As for set-up, it was very quick to go from pulling it out of the box to having it ready to go. I had no issues getting it onto the network in my truck and it printed flawlessly from my old HP laptop with Windows Vista. My laptop finally failed a few weeks ago and I was forced to purchase a new computer. I purchased a Dell with Windows 7 and was printing before I had really figured much out about Windows 7.
I have the printer set to print borderless for my log sheets. The printer recommends against this, as it says print quality will be diminished. My log sheets still come out flawless. I HIGHLY recommend this printer to anyone in the market for a printer/scanner combo. Even if it failed today, I would buy another one!

Bought this printer based on the 4.5 stars reviews. The printer is very well packaged, because of that it takes longer than I had liked to take all the plastic and orange tape off that keeps moving parts from moving (make sure you remove all tape from inside the printer as well). Installation of the printing head and ink cartridges was pretty easy, but a steady hand is necessary when installing the printing head. The wi-fi set up was tedious and lenghty but flawless and the same goes for the software installation. Overall everything went well and the printer worked right away. The printouts are of very good quality, with no banding, bluriness, streaks, blotches and/or misalignments.the printer and software are pretty easy to use and straightforward enough to get the hang of it quickly. Internet explorer seems to be quirky at printing and the website image must, at times, be scaled in the preview printing option of IE before sending it to the printer. Also the wi-fi works perfect with no glitches. Now regarding the printer itself: It is fast but noisier than I would have liked, also the build quality is ok but not great, it tends to be a little flimsier than I would have liked and way too much plastic, however it does not look cheap. This is a large sized somewaht heavy printer, just keep that in mind. Overall: GOOD!

I have been very pleased since purchasing the MP560 several months ago. Although there are some features lacking, the printer represents an excellent value in the price range, and suits my needs perfectly.
The printer is used in a home office / small business environment, and is used mostly for printing text and copying, with occasional use as a scanner and photo printer. Set up was simple, but I do not use this as a wireless printer.
I have found the overall print quality to be very good with both text and graphics, and photos. Although I did try some adjustments, the default settings were acceptable. Ink usage does seem a bit high, but not unacceptably so, at least for my amount of use. My one complaint with this printer is not being able to set black and white printing as a default. There is a 'greyscale' setting, but not as a default. There may be a way to do this, but I have not yet found out how.
The design and construction of the printer is excellent: the location of controls and receptacles is logical, operation is intuitive, and replacement of individual ink cartridges is straightforward. The case is nicely finished, doors and trays open and close smoothly, and operating noise is acceptable.
Attention was obviously given to design and aesthetics. The printer closes up completely when not in use, helping keep the control panel and platen dust-free, and if left closed, the out-feed tray drops open automatically when starting to print.
A fax and and a document feeder have been left off, but they are not really missed with my use. A document can be scanned and e-mailed if necessary, and document feeders on printers in this price range never seem to work well anyway. Ink usage does seem a bit high, but not unacceptably so, at least for my amount of use.
Overall, the MP560 is a great printer for the price: well constructed with good printing quality.

I actually purchased an HP printer at Walmart a week before this printer became the gold box deal. Within that ONE week, I was on the phone with Tech support about 12 times. Honestly, I should have known better than to purchase an HP printer. I tried to install it without using their suite of software and it kept getting upset with me. It wouldn't play well with my Apple Airport, and freaked out when I made my wireless connection hidden. When I saw the gold box deal, I packed up the HP, brought it back to Walmart and ordered the Canon from Amazon.
I followed the Mac instructions from the lovely commenter who gave step by step directions and it went flawlessy. I didn't even have to un-hide my wireless network! It works perfectly, and I didn't have to install any garbage on my mac. The print quality is great, and I love that the paper tray is hidden, so I can leave paper in it while it's off without it being unable to close.
To the commenter who mentioned having to uppercase their network and password, and to anybody else who thinks that's true, keep turning the dial until you get to XYZ and the next letters will be abc lowercase.
Love this printer. If you're reading this, do it. Get it. You know you want to.

Got this combo unit to replace the printer and scanner I had. Technology surely improved. Both scanning and printing quality and speed are better then my old separate setup. Needed to buy a longer USB cable. And the inks price are very reasonable when using a 3rd party brand. Installs easily but do download the new driver from the website and not the one on the cd. Glad that I bought it. Can't comment on if it beats Dell 940 or not because I've never used the Dell, and can't compare em.

A very usable item to have when needing to keeping loose wiring and cables better managed. Used several already to clean up my daughter's desktop and LCD monitor power cords/video cable; speakers and mouse cabling, etc under her desk. Short enough (8" x 1/2") to handle multiple cabling.

If you looked behind our TV or our PC's before these nifty little Velcro cable ties you would have saw a big cluttered mess of wires. I bought the expensive spools to roll your excessive wires onto but they were cumbersome and more work then I cared for. I like simple and straight forward, these Velcro cable ties are precisely that.
~ August 26, 2010 ~ Paul Choung from Los Angeles, CA United States said:ideal cable/cord/wire management
I look forward to that fantastic future of "wireless", but until then, I need something to manage those many boxes of tangled cables, cords, and wires we all accumulate, as well as making things look nice and tidy for those electronics that are set up for enjoyment. In the past, I've used tape, zip ties, cable ties, bungee cords, wire, and prayer to sort and keep things separated. I've found that this is THE best solution...it's reusable (as noted in the title of the product), it's easy to adjust (since it's velcro), and it's looks neat and clean (because it's self-gripping). Now I just need to swap over everything...
~ August 23, 2010 ~ N Wagner said:Reusable cable ties
Velcro works very well, almost too well. A little difficult to wrap around smaller cables without having the velcro stick before I can tighten it. Great price for a reusable product. Seem durable enough that 100 should last a long time.
~ August 18, 2010 ~ Joseph J. Hoffmann from VA said:Good velcro ties
These are perfect for cleaning up cabling. I use them to tie together cables running to and from my desk to my desktop, monitor, speakers, etc. Very simple operation: tear one off the spool, punch out the hole, wrap up your cables, thread the end through the hole, velcro holds it all in place. I was looking at other brands on Amazon which were more expensive with less in the package. I'm happy I went with these. When you can get 100 ties for $9 you don't need to be stingy with the ties. Only annoyance is the use of velcro to close the bag which houses the spools of ties. It makes getting the velcro covered spools in and out more difficult then if they had just used "zip-lock," this is absolutely not a deal breaker though, and I would definitely recommend these.

The TI-84 was required for my 7th grade son's math class. At the beginning of the school year I ordered the TI-84 Plus Silver Edition from Amazon. It worked fine for eight months, then it froze and was completely useless. The math and computer teachers at my son's school did everything to try and fix it, but nothing worked. Since it is still under the one-year warranty, I will try to get a refund, a replacement, or at least have it repaired.
In the meantime, my son needs a TI-84 graphing calculator to do his math, so I ordered the less expensive TI-84 Plus (not the Silver Edition) and it is working fine, at least for now. My son says that his new TI-84 is easy to use and has all the functions and capablities to get his math done, and he is happy with it.
Lets keep our fingers crossed that this one last more than eight months!

Great functionality for financial analysis....I'm using it in my MBA program and am thankful for the time it saves me.
The BA II Plus operates in standard calculator and worksheet modes. The standard mode lets you perform common math as well as operations involving the time value of money--that is, applications such as mortgages or annuities in which payments are equal and evenly spaced. You can also perform trigonometric functions in standard mode.
The more hard-core worksheet mode includes tables for amortization, bond, depreciation, and compound interest. If you're not familiar with such calculations, the very helpful user's manual will guide you through the process. All previous worksheet values are stored in memory, so you don't have to retype all the bond maturity or cash flow analysis figures.
The average user who wants to calculate a basic loan payment will be more comfortable working in the standard calculator mode. We were using the BA II Plus tools for calculating basic interest and payment periods within minutes. Still, it's good to know that the more advanced features are available for those who require heavy-duty financial computing.
Finance students and average users alike will find much to like in the Texas Instruments BA II Plus. --John Frederick Moore

This product only works every once in a while. The ink cartridges don't install correctly. You can press them in and they will light up as if connected, but they don't stay there. I was only able to print 1/4 or 1/5 times. They must be defective ones. Sometimes they would print twice in a row, but without me touching them they stopped. I would have to go to my wireless printer, open it and wait for the cartridges to come to the center and I would see only this one cartridge's light no longer lit (the four others colors were lit). I would have to press it in again, it wouldn't always feel like it would stay, but regardless it never stayed for long.) Then I would have to wait for the printer to go through a reset cycle and it would either work or not. This all takes a lot of time and is very unreliable. Either they aren't quite the right size or the chips are defective, but they are suppose to be real cannon cartridges. What a waste of money and time. All three are like this. I had to finally go out and buy new ones from the store. They cost a bit more, but they actually work.

At the very least, be glad they separate the black cartridges out, considering it's gone the quickest. I remember in the olden days when all you had was one ink cartridge, and no matter what if one color ran out you were SOL.
These cartridges are moderately priced in the 3-pack, and you do get a decent number of copies from them. Even after the computer tells me the ink is out, I tend to "continue printing" anyway, as I noticed that it's similar to a car saying "fuel empty," you're not all the way gone, but you're pretty close.
You can't beat OEM either, the generics don't hold up as well, and for some reason they get a little messy. Overall, this is a pretty good buy, considering it's the most frequently replaced.

I'm a master of the TI-83 calculator, and can do just about anything on it. I'm taking calculus courses in college, however, and the TI-83 doesn't support much mathematics past algebra.
First off, this thing kicks ass if you just need to know something without all the steps in between. It's very easy to factor, differentiate, anti-differentiate, solve equations, etc.
My only major con is the learning curve involved with this calculator may be a little steep. Being in a college course, I have to show my steps in solving problems. This calculator won't do that for me, but it allows me to double check my answers.

I really love this calculator...Once you learn how to use it. Seriously this calculator is pretty unreasonable to use until you read a detailed manual (and not the one TI gives you...that thing is junk). I highly recommend you pick up the idiot's guide or something along those lines to get the most out of this calculator. After a weekend of reading the idiot's manual I was good to go. Once you learn how to input formulas and commands properly in this calculator then it's downhill running from there. The TI89 is super powerful and simple to use once you get use to it. I rarely use another calculator permitting on the exam. It comes with strong financial, mathematical, and statistical functions that is great for undergrad classes. It also has loads of option even down to how you want you're decimals rounded and various other picky mathematical settings.
My only complaint with this calculator is that the case is made out of some cheap plastic. My case is all cracked, scratched, and dinged up. I take care of this calculator and have never dropped it. This plastic just wears down really quickly. I'll be needing a new case soon at this rate.

This calculator is a must for any Calculus AB class or above. It is the first in the TI series that handles integrals, differentials, 3D graphing, differential equations, user-defined variables, upper and lowercase lettering, and custom flash apps... to name a few. It has a visually-pleasing home screen, to allow you to see equations as they would naturally be written, instead of in a single line filled with parenthesis. Built-in flash applications allow you to do things like create study cards, edit lists and matrices, edit text, and solve simultaneous equations. The one con about this calculator is that it is much less adept at performing statistical operations, such as linear regression, than the previous TI calculators. The TI-89 Titanium, however, was designed for calculus, so this is not a huge problem.
The buttons are very quiet and responsive. Over time, depending on what they are expose to, then can become occasionally stuck, but anyone who treats this calculator well won't have any trouble with the input. Using this calculator for about 4 hours a week, a fresh set of four Duracell batteries lasted 6 months in the device. This will vary depending on your contrast settings. The case is quite durable, but that's not to say that the components are, so be careful with this.
This is a top-choice calculator for any level Calculus class, and I would recommend it to anyone.

Be sure when you buy this battery-guzzling piece of junk that you also invest in a rechargeable battery kit as well. This thing sucks the batteries EVEN WHEN IT'S TOTALLY OFF! If you don't use it for a month, your batteries will be completely dead. You'll need four AAA's.
Hey, guys at TI: can you effin' fix this, please? Or are you a subsidiary of Energizer, Inc.?
The TI-89 Titanium's flash technology allows you to upgrade to future software versions without having to continually invest in new calculators. The 188 KB of RAM, combined with an impressive 2.7 MB of flash memory (three times the memory of the TI-89), are more than sufficient for your stored functions, programs, and data, and add welcome speed to go with the TI's reliability. You can create custom menus or use the default menu. Another cool feature is the Program Editor, which gives you the ability to write custom applications.
The large LCD is adjustable to your environment and can be viewed clearly under a variety of lighting conditions. The calculator also comes with an input/output port and cable, letting you synch up with other TI-89s or TI-92s, as well as a USB port and cable. An attached, hard slide cover protects the calculator from getting knocked around in your backpack. The manual that ships with the TI-89 Titanium is a killer, presenting over 500 pages of clear, concise definitions, function explanations, examples, drawings, and appendices. It's divided into well-organized chapters that cover all the major features of the calculator.
What's in the Box
The TI-89 Titanium, a hard sliding case, a silver oxide battery, a user's guide, an applications CD-ROM, a USB cable, a TI-link cable, and warranty information

The case is the best option Ive seen for the IPAD if you want durability. Feel is great and the only complaint is the screen cover film, not the greatest as far as installation, but it will do. If you use the tool that comes with it to smooth it out, it will do more scratching of the film then smoothing. Other than that, its very good and am considering one for my iphone!

I've had this case for a week now and now I can add my review. I'm completely satisfied with this Otterbox case. Like most of all iPad owners I've searched for the perfect protection for it. I was this close to purchase the ZooGue case but finally decided not to, and I'm glad I went for the Defender case. The reason? I'm not the only user for my iPad: it's that simple. If no one else uses your iPad you can go with a leather case, a sleeve and so on, but if your family members use your iPad too, then you have no other option but to invest in good protection, specially if you have kids. There's no way a leather case can provide good protection all around the corners, for example.
It's not difficult to assemble, it just takes a little patience and a few minutes to first apply the screen shield AND THEN slide the iPad into the lower part of the case; you then slide in the top half of the case until it clicks closed, and finally attach the silicone wrap for shock absorption.
So if you can predict that your iPad will exchange many hands then you can presume that nobody will take care of it like you do, and then a case like the Otterbox Defender is mandatory.

The case arrived in a few days after placing the order. Very easy to put together along with the screen protector took me about 3 mins to assemble the unit all while I was talking to someone about the case. My only issue is the headphone jack covering is too small for some headphone connectors. I have quite a few pairs if professional style headphone that can be converted for 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch and the will not sit inside the area now for the connection. So I have to buy a pair that sounds great or get an adapter to fit. Other than that I love the case so far I use it mostly on my desk at work to watch movies and i don't have to prop my iPad up on something to avoid holding it to view the screen

Upon the recommendation of a co-worker, I purchased the OTTERBOX iPad Defender case. The one my co-worker had made the pad a little thicker, but seems to protect the device. I got mine and found that the plastic screen protector was damaged out of the package - I called Otterbox direct and much to my surprise, they were happy to send me a new one free. Glad to see good customer servicer still exists. So after waiting a few days I decided to opt for the ARMOR SHEILD for the iPad to cover the screen, as they were likewise highly recommended. Should not be an issue, eh? Well, much to my surprise, the two seem mostly incompatible. The Otterbox slid on about 4/5 of the way and got stuck. I could not take it out or push it in. WTF? Apparently the sides of the case that would hold the iPad were being stuck on the screen protection. With some patience and curse words, I got the cover to go on -- except about 1/32 of an inch (enough to urk my OCD), but made it functional. With the case in place, all of the features and buttons were fully accessible and the sudo-built in stand works fine.
My complaints are: The case needs to be just a hair larger to allow for other screen protectors, and it seems that once it is on, it stays on. I will probably need to physically CUT the case off the iPad should I choose a different case down the road. The directions (all very small pictures) were not very clear (to me and my bad eyesight), so that was another frustration. And lastly, they really should have worked some type of strap into the case to slide your hand into to hold the iPad (remember, the case makes it much thicker).
Over all, this is a GREAT idea, but still needs a bit of tweaking to make it the BEST case there is. The potential protection is great, but makes overall handling a little clumsy. They need to slim the case down a bit, but make the insertion of the iPad easier, and add the hand-based strap. Overall I would recommend the case for travelers, but would suggest you have it professionally installed. Check out someone elses pad and make sure this is right for you before purchasing.

This is a meaty, thick, protective, double-layer case. It protects every corner, side, and area of the iPad. Note that you'll be increasing your wifi iPad from 24 ounces to 45 ounces, almost doubling the weight (wifi + 3g models adds one ounce), but it's well worth it. The hard plastic cover doubles as a stand with two adjustable angles, although it does not lock into place. It's held up by the weight of the iPad.
Note that this case makes the volume buttons are very difficult to press, unlike the unlock and home buttons, which are much easier to press.
It was very easy to install - just make sure to plug every silicon snap/tab into place for a secure fit.
Drop-proof your magical Apple iPad with this OtterBox Defender Series case. This cutting-edge case incorporates three layers of hardcore protection plus some advanced features. Stowing your iPad away for the night or for your commute? Simply remove the back polycarbonate cover and snap it over the face for ultimate touch screen protection.

I've had this printer a few weeks now and I am very happy. The picture quality is excellent - MUCH better than my HP Photosmart 2710 All-In-One. I had read in another review that the document quality was poor but that has not been my experience - my documents look good. I REALLY like the duplex feature. Other reviewers seemed to have had trouble getting this feature to work. I haven't had any problems - just select duplex in the print menu and it does it automatically. This printer IS a little slow. Out of the box, it seemed really slow but some tweeking in the menu has sped it up enough for me. If you need to print large quantities quickly, then this probably isn't the printer for you. I am a teacher and I print a lot of stuff for school and the speed of the printer has been nothing more than a minor nuisance. This printer is also a little on the big side but I think that is due to it having 3 paper feeds which is actually a good thing. You can have regular paper and photo paper loaded at the same time and the printer will automatically select the right one - you don't have to keep switching paper! It also has a top feed for the scan/copy function that will feed multiple sheets and correlate & duplex from that function as well. The printer also runs very quietly compared to my HP. I am not sure why others had problems with setup. It seemed easy - I had no trouble and was able to connect wirelessly to my network with no problems. Overall, I am VERY happy with this printer and would recommend it without reservation.

I bought this to replace an Officejet 8500 Pro that wouldn't fit on my new desk shelving. Since I was used to the way things worked with the HP, I was worried that I'd have a bit of trouble adjusting to the new. Nonsense. Everything worked straight out of the box. Even setup was flawless. The only major difference was I have to use the Canon application to scan, where the HP had TWAIN/WIA drivers and I could scan directly into Photoshop. This is no biggie, however. Just thought I'd mention it.
WiFi setup was a breeze! All I had to do was connect the 870 to the router via the front control panel, then run the software on the computer. Canon is LIGHTYEARS above HP in this aspect. HP software is quite annoying at times.
Print and scan quality are top notch just as you would expect from Canon.
The only negatives, which admittedly are very minor, are 1.) Having to use the Canon app to scan and 2.)Speed. While it's not painfully slow, it takes a while to print once awakened from sleep.
I have put this AIO through its paces and can definitely recommend this to anyone!

Set-up was relatively easy: load the install disk and run the programs. Both the MacBook and Lenovo Thinkpad running Windows XP recognized the printer wirelessly through a 2Wire (ATT) router. Functions: printing, copying, scanning (B/W and color; one-sided or duplex) all worked well. Scanner resolution at 600 dpi looks pretty good, although scanning take a few seconds to process each pass. Quiet and looks good. For an inkjet printer, I've very favorably impressed after a few weeks of moderate use. Canon seems to make consistently good products in my experience (primarily with their digicams).
~ September 1, 2010 ~ MasterOfHisFate from California said:The Canon MX870 is a piece of complete crapola
This printer should be taken off the market forever. It was difficult to set up AND more importantly it takes forever to warm up and get ready to print. It goes through some dumb start up process every time you print and it takes forever. If the printer has not been used for 10 minutes, it goes through its start up process. It took me almost 25 minutes to print one stupid piece of paper this morning. What I truly hate about this printer more than anything is that, I believe, Canon has programmed the thing to make it very annoying to use ink from anyone other than Canon. Literally every time I go to print, the printer beeps and gives me an error that it cannot recognize the ink cartridges. To fix this, I simply open the case and close the case. After doing this at least 3 times every time I print, it finally prints. WTF! They have honestly gone to extreme lengths to make it so annoying that you just buy their ink. Well, guess what? I am not going to spend 3x on ink to make this printer work. There is one more really bad thing about this printer. There are two black ink bays. A large one and a small one. If either of them run out, the printer will not print. The service guy at Canon tried to make me believe that one of the black inks are used for photos and the other for printing or that they are two different black ink types. Really? He is full of crap because I never print photos and the printer used both inks. I hate this printer. I hate this printer. My entire family hates this printer. I am going to sell this printer immediately because I hate it so much and it drives me mad on a daily basis. Please do yourself a favor and don't buy this Canon MX870 printer ever!

This is a nice, budget-friendly laser printer with a lot of networking options. Unfortunately, setting these options up with the included software is a royal pain. I have a simple wireless home network with a Linksys router and two laptops, and it took me 6 hours to get the printer working properly, mainly because I foolishly followed the included documentation and setup software. If setting up your printer near your router, ignore the wireless network option and go straight for the wired network. After 6 hours, I could not get the wireless and wired options to work because the driver setup would not detect the printer. I read online an alternate way to set up using the wired network, and it worked perfectly.
For those interested in buying this printer for a simple wireless setup like mine, you'll save yourself some headache by installing the BRAdmin Light program included on the driver CD and running it to ensure it detects the printer. Plug your printer into your router using an ethernet cable. You should then be able to install the drivers using the wired network option and providing the IP for the printer (can be found using the BRAdmin program). This works on XP and Vista. I never did get the completely wireless setup to work, but since my printer is right next to the router, I really don't need to.
Print speed is decent, the monochrome print quality is good, and the compact size is nice. No autoduplex though, which is to be expected at this price. I also found generic high yield toner cartridges for about $20 after shipping on Amazon, so all in all, its a good pickup.
~ September 1, 2010 ~ J H said:Great for Windows XP/7 and Ubuntu Linux
I simply can't say enough good things about this printer. I first set up the wireless using Windows XP and in Ubuntu 10.04. The XP install was far more complicated (though admittedly straightforward). In Ubuntu it is as simple as System -> Administration -> Printing -> Add New Printer. Search for printers on the network and it will appear in the list on the left pane. Then just select it and Ubuntu will download the drivers.
The printer is fast, fairly quiet, and prints very nicely. What a deal!

This little laser does the job nicely for my husband, who needs a laser for his work. It has a small footprint, is speedy and very basic. He's happy. The price was more than right, about half what it was selling for elsewhere. It's not nearly as noisy as the inkjet I just junked.

This little fellow is a remarkable value. I am a Mac user (Snow Leopard system) and had allotted extra time for installation in view of some cautions from earlier reviewers. To my delight, I followed the instructions for a wired installation and it was running smoothly in just a few minutes. With extra time and an inflated confidence, I decided to add wireless capability for my second Mac, a laptop, which I really didn't need. I went from computer master to grasshopper in one click as now nothing worked including the original installation. Hours later, after downloading printer drivers from both the Brother and Mac web sites, I was no further along. Belatedly working through the detailed installation manual, I found near the end some reset instructions in the "Network" section. These included restarting the computer and pressing the "Go" button seven times. I did this, feeling like a witch from MacBeth, ran everything from scratch and was back in business.

We have a few small business and print a ton. After I put tape on the toner it seems to print forever. I can't tell you exactly, but I KNOW our ink cost are way down.I have only had three paper jams. The wireless is a little tricky unless you hook it right up to the hub. Speed is great...it goes to sleep to save power. I love it so much I just bought another for my parents who have a lawn mowing business. I would buy it again in without a second thought.

As owner of several ink jet printers before my present purchase, I found the actual combination of HP All-in-one Photo Smart Premium Technology with HP Ink quality very successful and hard to be surpassed. The easiness of cartridge(s) replacement and the sharp and crispy photographs I can get on my own, make the real difference between original HP ink cartridges and the several "no name" products on the market.
~ August 26, 2010 ~ Brent A. Novosad from Austin, TX USA said:Ridiculous, only got about 50 pages on draft quality
I don't print very often (maybe a few pages a month), and after the original cartridges that came with my HP C6380 ran out waaaaaaay too quickly (the color ones ran out at the same speed as the black, even though I didn't print in color! imagine that...) I didn't hold high hopes for the XL cartridge. I just went back and looked at my Amazon order history and lo and behold, I ordered my current XL cartridge 5 days shy of a full year ago (09/01/09) and after maybe 50 pages tops, all but a few printed on "fast draft" quality, it is completely dry. And hey, guess what? I ordered color cartridges at the same time, have printed a page in color TWICE and they're bone dry as well!
I can handle overpaying a little for things as long as they work. But this ink cartridge racket is ridiculous. I get that HP needs to make money, but for nearly $0.75 a page I'd prefer to not buy another cartridge and print everything at work and risk getting fired. But of course, I'm an ethical person, and I have a big problem cheating my employer (and, by extension, tax payers, since I work for a governmental entity). And, unlike HP products, I work very hard for the salary I'm paid and don't want to let my employer down.
Anyone had any better luck with another printer manufacturer and their ink cartridges?

I realize that this is an HP problem - not Amazon - but I REALLY wish the description could make this more clear.

A cartridge isn't complicated. It either does the job or not. I don't do much other than black & white draft quality. The cartridge works just fine for that. My only compaint is the cost of replacement cartridges. It seems as though HP makes little or no profit on printers but significantly overcharges on cartridges. I believe that each product should stand on it's own pricewise. I never use refilled cartridges and will continue to buy new ones.
